The SUPDMC (Southeastern University Printing and Digital Manager’s Conference) in Daytona Beach was a great success again this year. Drew Burgering our customer from Valdosta State University did an amazing job planning and hosting the event. There were some great sessions and presenters. Topics included the future of Inkjet, building strategic plans, expanding wide format offerings, team building and dealing with difficult people. There was also an active round table discussion on a wide range of topics.

The accommodations at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort were excellent. The resort feel was great with the beach just a few feet away. Our meeting rooms were perfect and the food was delicious. And, as always, the hospitality suite was hopping every evening. There was always a lively discussion going on about printing, staffing, and of course, sports.

We were there just ahead of Biketoberfest so we got to see and hear some amazing motorcycles on the drag outside the hotel.

On Monday we had the opportunity to visit the Daytona Speedway. It was fun and quite exhilarating. Everyone enjoyed having a chance to walk on the speedway track and see in real life the incline those NASCARS race on. I think many of us will be watching the race in February so we can see the finish line where we were standing and taking pictures.

On the last day we got to visit our customer JoAnn Noth and her team at a tour of Eastern Florida State College. They have a very large print shop with some great equipment. It was fun seeing Print Shop Pro® in action.

We enjoyed having a chance to catch up with some of our other Print Shop Pro® Users including Jimmy Robinson from University of West Alabama, Sally Roberts from the University of West Georgia, Ed Arning from Middle Tennessee State, Susan Straw from Isothermal Community College, Mike McKendrick from Western Western Carolina University, and our newest Users Randall Bramlett and Beth Douglas from Columbus State University.

We are pleased that SUPDMC will be held in Wilmington, North Carolina in 2019. This is home to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, another long time PSP User. Hope you can make it—we’ll be there.
