FAQ: I am in the process of adding wide format printing and I want to set up my finished size and pricing options using the new “Square Inch” feature. How can I set this up in PSP?
Answer: The following configuration options are applicable for Version 15.0.0 or higher. Here is how to set this up:
Configure Wide Format Paper Stock KB: 25813
- Go to Website > Stocks > Stocks
- Locate your wide format stock or select the Add New Stock Item link to create a new stock.
- Configure the following settings that are unique for wide format roll stock:
- Size – Create a Size Name. The size should be the size of the roll in inches. e.g. 36 x 1200.
- Printable Stock Width (In Inches) – Enter the width for the roll in inches.
- Printable Stock Height (In Inches) – Enter the height (length) for the roll in inches.
- Bleed Size (In Inches) – Enter the optional bleed size for the roll.
- Custom Wide Format Pricing – You have the following potions:
- Linear Inch (Order will be charged for the full width of roll and the length)
- Square Inch (Order will be charged for the actual width and length of document)**
- Custom Wide Format Unit Price Area (Sq. Inches)**:
- 1 = the order will calculate the ACTUAL square inches of the document.
- 144 = the order will be calculate the square inches and round to the nearest square foot. (Not common)
- Base Price Per Sheet – Enter the price per linear inch or square inch. This price needs to include the PAPER and PRINTING fee.
** This option will be available in Versions 15.0.2 or higher.
Configure the Wide Format Setting in Order Category/Finished Size Defaults
- Go to Website > Finished Sizes
- Locate an existing Wide Format Finished Size or select the option to add a new finished size.
- Select the Defaults link.
- Configure the following special settings:
- Ask Number of Originals Instead of Sheets per Set: Uncheck.
- Allow Editing of Number of Originals or Sheets per Set:
- Wide Format Job ? – Check option
- Document Height Label – Enter a name (e.g. document height in Inches)
- Document Height What is this text? – Enter description (e.g. Please enter the height of the document in Inches)
- Document Width Label – Enter a name (e.g. document width in Inches)
- Document Width What is this text?– Enter description (e.g. Please enter the width of the document in inches)
- Ask Bleed– Select this option if you want to ask customer to choose the bleed setting.
- Bleed Label Text – Enter a name (e.g. Does this order require a bleed?)
- Bleed What is this text? – Enter description (e.g. A bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document.)
- Default Value for Bleed Checkbox– Select if you want this option selected by default.
- Auto Impose – By selecting this option PSP will determine how to best fit the document on the available stock. Uncheck this checkbox to bypass this optimization and use a single imposition layout for all wide format jobs using the selected finish size.
- Show Width – Select this option to show document width to the customer. If you are using a set finished size, you may not want to show width (e.g. 24 x 36).
- Allow Editing of Width – Select if you want the customer to enter the width of the print (Note: This will be used with the CUSTOM SIZE option)
- Default Value for Width – Enter a default value for a preset set size option. If Custom Size, do not enter a value.
- Show Height – Select this option to show document height to the customer.
- Allow Editing of Height – Select this option if you want to allow the customer to enter the width of the print (Note: This will be used with the CUSTOM SIZE option.)
- Default Value for Height – Enter a default value for a preset set size option. If Custom Size, do not enter a value.
- Select UPDATE at the top or bottom of the page.
Configure the Stock, Size Style and Weight Options
- Go to Website > Finished Sizes
- Locate an existing Wide Format Finished Size or select the option to add a new finished size.
- Select the Defaults link.
- Select the Stock Size, Style and Weight
- Stock Size. For the set size finished size options, select the stock size that best fits. For the Custom Size option, select the largest width roll available. When the order is submitted, you can edit the roll that best fits.
